Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition that sometimes shows no obvious cause. In order to gain a better understanding of IBS, and its effects on sufferers, there are always a number of research programmes run by hospitals and universities.
We have provided a list of current research opportunities who need help from IBS sufferers; if you have the available time and want to help further the understanding of IBS, please feel free to volunteer, your assitance could help find a way to help others live with IBS.
- Synexus is looking for people to participate in a study to test a well-known, over-the-counter treatment for chronic constipation. To join the study you must be aged 18 years or older and suffer from constipation. Click here to find out more.
- The Human Nutrition Unit, at Sheffield University, is seeking volunteers who are aged 18 or over with active Irritable Bowel Syndrome. They want to investigate if pre/pro/synbiotics relieve the symptoms of IBS. Volunteers will be required to consume either a prebiotic, probiotic, synbiotic or a placebo supplement (this will be provided) for 28 days.
