An important part of our work is promoting the work of the Gut Trust to people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, the medical profession and the wider public.
People with Irritable Bowel Syndrome are found in all walks of life, everywhere. It's part of our role to meet them where they are, so we do everything we can to get in front of people in many different ways. We appear on television and on radio, give interviews for the press, and contribute to magazine articles. We attend conferences ranging from those held by the Royal College of Nursing and the European Gastroenterology Forum to local events such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Stoma Care Nurses' Study Days. Our self help groups organise their own visibility projects, which might be as simple as a stall at a local fete, or a table in the local market; or something as dramatic as a sponsored marathon run.
